What is Tally?

Tally is a free Chrome extension that sits quietly below your Claude message box and shows your live token usage, messages remaining, and when your session resets. It's model-aware — so it knows exactly how many Opus, Sonnet, or Haiku messages you have left. And if you hit your limit, its Capsule feature exports your full context to another AI in one click.

Setup in 4 Steps
From zero to tracking in under 2 minutes
1

Install Google Chrome

Tally is a Chrome extension, so you need Google Chrome installed on your computer. If you already have it, skip to Step 2.

Download Google Chrome →
⚠️ Tally does NOT work in Safari, Firefox, or Pinterest's browser. Must be Chrome.
2

Add Tally to Chrome

Open the Chrome Web Store listing for Tally and click "Add to Chrome""Add extension". The button will only be active when you're in Chrome.

Install Tally from Chrome Web Store →
3

Complete the Onboarding

After installing, a welcome page opens (1 of 3). Click "Show me how →" and follow the 3-step onboarding. It takes under a minute and shows you where everything appears.

Then open claude.ai — you'll see the Tally strip at the bottom of the message box showing your session % and reset time.

Open Claude →
4

Change Your Model Anytime

Inside Claude, click the model name (e.g. "Sonnet 4.6 Low ∨") in the message bar to switch between Claude models at any time — no need to wait for a limit.

For deeper settings, click the Tally icon in your Chrome toolbar to see your full usage breakdown, weekly limits, and Capsule options.
